Directors Statement:

Before I read the script for The Sequence, I was writing a concept for a horror film that was going to allow me to really push some buttons and terrify an audience. As any writer will tell you, things don’t always go as planned. Everything I was writing was turning into horror/comedies, and although I love that genre, it was the opposite of what I was looking for in a project at this time. Fortunately for me, I met Brian Laprocino of Red End Productions, and he sent me the script, which I absolutely fell in love with. I chose to come on board and direct The Sequence for two main reasons…

First and foremost, the story tackles a lot of themes involving how people process grief and their emotions in our current society. The story shows what could be a severe outcome if we don’t learn to communicate properly and talk through our problems and emotions with our friends and families. Too many times in the world, we turn to social media and the internet for an outlet vs. turning to the people right in front of us for help. By doing so, the worst always seems to come to fruition, as it does with this film. And the only way to truly understand the light, is by exploring the dark, because one doesn’t exist without the other. Darker side of humanity, check!

The second reason was because of Brian himself and what he, as well as the team over at Red End Productions, represent. In the past, I’ve always been told there are taboo topics not to touch in filmmaking, and stay clear of raising too many eyebrows, or rocking the boat. That’s always been difficult for me because I want to push the limits, I want to test the waters, and I want to make sure that anyone who watches my films has one of two emotions: amusement (through comedy and laughter) or pure dread and anxiety (through terrifying horror). Brian and Red End Productions want that same exact thing, at least on the horror side of things. They want to build a slate of films that do the thing everyone else is afraid to do, and they want to talk about the subjects that scare the living shit out of us. If you get the chance to jump on board with a team that is willing to take risks, there are no limits on how creative, fun, and exciting filmmaking and telling stories can get. I hope by making The Sequence our audience gets to see just the tip of the iceberg of what we plan to do in the horror industry.
